Do I need a copyright page to publish on Amazon KDP?＋
KDP doesn't reject books for lacking one, but virtually every professionally published book has one, and its absence is a self-publishing tell. It states who owns the work, reserves your rights explicitly, and carries the conventional disclaimers — one page of front matter that costs nothing and reads as professional.
Do I have to register my copyright to use the © notice?＋
No. In the US and most countries, copyright exists automatically from the moment the work is fixed in tangible form — the © notice just asserts it. Registration (with the US Copyright Office, for example) is a separate optional step that strengthens your position in infringement disputes; you don't need it to publish or to print the notice.
What is the fiction disclaimer and do I need it?＋
It's the familiar 'names, characters, places, and incidents are products of the author's imagination… any resemblance to actual persons is coincidental' paragraph. It's a convention, not a legal requirement, but it's near-universal in published fiction because it plainly signals the work isn't about real people.
Where does the copyright page go in the book?＋
Traditionally on the verso (reverse) of the title page — the left-hand page immediately after it in print. In ebooks it's commonly placed either after the title page or at the very back to let readers reach the story sooner; both are accepted practice.
Do I need to print an ISBN on the copyright page?＋
Print it if you have one — it's the conventional place for it. Ebooks on KDP don't need an ISBN at all (Amazon assigns an internal ASIN), and KDP offers a free ISBN for paperbacks and hardcovers. If you use your own ISBNs, list each format's number separately.
Is the generated page legal advice?＋
No — it assembles the standard conventions used across trade and self publishing. It covers the typical case well, but if your book has unusual legal exposure (memoir naming real people, medical or financial advice, licensed material), have a professional review your front matter.
